If it's apparently so hard to even clone a healthy disk drive, if I want to start backing up (properly), EVERYTHING, including the OS, what software is going to work well for me, and when tragedy strikes, actually be functional? Unlike ghost and EaseUS, which apparently can't make a functional clone of windows 7.
Norton ghost wasn't free- and it was supposed to accommodate this problem.
Way too frustrated with this problem to burn further time dealing with it.

Once, it told me instead, that bootmgr is missing. When you start up, it tells you that "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" 0xc000000e. I don't know why "boot" is still attached to disk 0! for example. However, I can boot from disk 1, IF disk 0 is also installed. I cannot remove disk 0, and still boot up windows. I do not have the original install dvd, maybe never did. Question first, before all the details! I installed windows through my university 3 years ago. It's just missing something, anyway, that's critical! I also checked the box for it to include the boot partition, and indeed the little 100mb partition is there. After giving up in frustration, I reformatted, and tried again,
